Clinics

 Advocacy clinic drop-in

Our Advocacy Clinic held within 'The Walking With Project' (Every Wednesday 11.00-12.30 within St Lukes Church, Wallsend) works by allowing people to access drop-in sessions without making a prior arrangement for a meeting. The success of the clinic can be seen by the increasing number of people that have used or regularly using the service. The importance of this project is captured in comments from our service users, one comment recorded was “You listened to me and offered me support when nobody else seem to listen”.

The clinic is open to all members of the community however the vast majority of people using the service are asylum seekers or refugees. Those people often find the limited support they receive to be withdrawn and are often in crisis when they attend the clinic. The advocacy worker listens, offers their support and most importantly tries to ensure that the person’s voice is being heard.
